Uzumaki sendiri berarti “Spiral” dalam bahasa Jepang dan kita akan menemukan segudang hal-hal ganjil yang berhubungan dengan spiral di sepanjang 90 menit durasinya. Ada kejadian aneh yang menimpa kota kecil, Kurozu-cho, di mana satu per satu penduduknya menemui kematian mengerikan setelah terjangkit dengan obesesi atau paranoia akut terhadap hal-hal yang berhubungan dengan spiral atau segala bentuk yang menyerupai lingkaran yang berputar (vortex), mulai dari cangkang siput, permen lolipop, sampai sidik jari. Kekuatan terbesar Uzumaki tentu saja ada di premisnya yang tidak ada duanya. Mungkin mudah menghadirkan segala kegilaan via komik bersama goresan-goresan tangan tanpa batas, namun tentu saja kemudian menjadi sulit ketika harus memindahkan setiap panel sempit yang diisi banyak kenganjilan seperti dalam manga ciptaan Junji Ito ini ke ranah live action tanpa nantinya terlihat konyol. Dan beruntung Uzumaki punya Higuchinsky yang sepertinya tahu benar bagaimana memperlakukan versi filmnya dengan sangat baik tanpa harus kehilangan semangat komiknya, meskipun memang faktanya baik versi komik maupun live action-nya punya ending yang berbeda karena manga-nya sendiri belum berakhir ketika versi filmnya selesai dibuat.

The Kabul National Museum, once known as the "face of Afghanistan," was destroyed in 1993. We filmed the most important cultural treasures of the still-intact museum in 1988: ancient Greco-Roman art and antiquitied of Hellenistic civilization, as well as Buddhist sculpture that was said to have mythology--the art of Gandhara, Bamiyan, and Shotorak among them. After the fall of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan in 1992, some seventy percent of the contents of the museum was destroyed, stolen, or smuggled overseas to Japan and other countries. The movement to return these items is also touched upon. The footage in this video represents that only film documentation of the Kabul Museum ever made.
